thanks, just wondering if it was still ok when running on apple hardware while running windows.
Ghost menu bar
When working in Mavericks and using mission control you move a fullscreen vm from one monitor to the next, there is a ghost gray menu bar that has no text, but is clickable. I think this might be a bug in Mavericks, as I see it in other systems. However, can you just add a feature or something that just always shows OSX's menu bar in fullscreen (either monitor)?
Otherwise, how do you get rid of that ghost menubar?

Re: Make VM available on Network
Thanks Andre, that seems to be what I am thinking although I think in Fusion you need to edit a file?
Can anyone tell me the process of doing this and also an example of what I would need to do.
I think I understand what is going on, its just a little bit beyond me at the moment
Re: WIN 8 x64 (host system), VMware 9.0.2.build-1031769: Vmdk-file has internal consistency errors
Just a quick question. It looks like you are having this issue on different .vmdk files!? Assuming you are using an on-access virus scan software, did you already exclude files with extensions *.vm* from being scanned? In addition to this you may want to run chkdsk c: /f to rule out file system issues on the host. Once the host file system has been checked, you may download an older version of vmware-vdiskmanager from the "Attachments" section of VMware KB: Repairing a virtual disk in Fusion 3.1 and Workstation 7.1 and try to repair the virtual disk with this version. Make sure you backup the virtual disk prior to running the repair command to be able to roll-back if necessary.

Re: Vmware Fusion 6 performance in Guest OS Windows
It sounds like your host may be starved for memory. How are the VM's configured? You'll need to leave 4GB for a 10.9 host to get good performance - and no individual VM should take more than 3 cores on a 4 core machine.
Re: New to Vmware : Confused between relation of ESX/vSphere/Vcenter
Ah that is good point... Vcenter has to be latest version ..
My vcenter is 5.0 & update manager is also 5.0.xxxx
So let me upgrade/install new one & try all over again
Thanks again pointing out..
Re: Make VM available on Network
Re: Vmware Fusion 6 performance in Guest OS Windows
The guests are all single core and nothing over a meg of RAM.
Free memory runs 4 gig consistently for the host.
Re: Make VM available on Network
... sorry old post, the new path to the nat.conf file is /Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion/vmnet8/

Virtualizing RSAT with ThinApp 5 - MMC MSC problems
Hi All,
After a few months of browsing, I am finally posting something because I need help! If I can get this problem solved, I plan on publishing a new recipe here to the discussion boards to benefit those who are running into the very same problem.
I have done *tons* of searching on this topic; add command-line attributes to the Package.ini file; use the /32 switch for MMC...none of which are working for me:
- ThinApp version 5.0.0-1391583
- Windows 7 SP1 x86 (clean install, joined to domain, using admin account to package apps)
After installing RSAT to my VM, when attempting to start AD Users and Computers, I get this error message:
"MMC cannot open the file C:\Windows\system32\dsa.msc
This may be because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console, or was created by a later version of MMC. This may also be because you do not have sufficient access rights to the file"
My ThinApp and target VMs are both running the exact same Windows 7 SP1 x86 build, so I know it's not a platform issue (and people have done this before me, so....)
For what it's worth, Active Directory Administrative Center works fine, so does the PowerShell snap in.
AD Domains and Trusts, AD Sites and Services, AD Users and Computers, Certification Authority, DFS, DNS, File Server Resource Manager, and Group Policy Management all exhibit this error.
The following Package.ini file is the stock ThinApp generated file (I set MSIStreaming to '1'):

Re: New to Vmware : Confused between relation of ESX/vSphere/Vcenter
Give that a try and let me know. It seems logical but if you can confirm it we both have learned something.
Re: vmWare Fusion 6.02 crashes Mac during Windows installation
Hi sanomarino, and welcome to the VMware Communities!
The panic report you attached suggests that memory (RAM) corruption has occurred. This could be caused by a software problem (a defect in Fusion, in your Logitech drivers, or in OS X itself) or a hardware problem (faulty/incompatible RAM or faulty CPU). If you have added additional RAM to your Mac, it might be worth removing it again and seeing if the problem goes away.
Has the problem happened more than once? If you have more panic reports, please post them. You can find them in Applications> Utilities> Console, then under DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION> System Diagnostic Reports, look for anything starting with "Kernel_". Those reports would also be automatically collected and included in the support bundle suggested by anthonyrr above; Posting the support bundle would also be a good way to proceed with diagnosing the problem.
Cheers,

Re: USB redirection on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Hi Peter,
So I got USB redirection working now.
1) I removed the symlink ln -s /usr/lib/vmware/vmware-view-usb /usr/bin/vmware-view-usbd
2) Created a new config file: sudo nano /etc/vmware/config and NOT/etc/vmware/config/view-mandatory-config ( config file only contains => viewusb.InculdeFamily= "storage" )
3) Started sudo /usr/lib/vmware/vmware-usbarbitrator -f --trivia
4) Started sudo /usr/lib/vmware-view-usbd -o log:trace
5) And finally started the vmware view client
Many thanks for giving me the information that I needed!
For those who are interested in any healthy log files, see below:

VMWare Player
Hi, I am experiencing issues with VM Player and was wondering if you could help me.
When I launch a Virtual Machine I receive an error stating the following:
Error while powering on: The operation was canceled by the user.
Re: Fusion 6 vm won't start "Unable to retrieve kernel symbols"
Hi jmcdermo,
I don't understand the Disk Utility output either, and I was having a difficult time coming up with meaningful advice for you out of concern for dealing with the unknown disk setup... So I am extra happy that you have solved it yourself. I'm glad to have at least pointed you in the right direction.
Cheers,

Re: Vulnerability dobuts
There is no patch for this. If your security team did not know this, they should be sacked.
